American shipyards building submarines for England according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1915-1916 no. 4
An item referred to the Army and Navy Journal reporting that the Bethlehem Steel Company and the Electric Boat Company at the yard of Vickers-Maxim, Montreal, Canada built 10 submarines within just five months for account of the British government. For the boats was already existing design used, a displacement of 365- (surfaced)-440 (submerged) tons, a speed of 14,25 (surfaced)-10 (submerged) miles and a length of 46 metres. The needed crews were from England sent towards Montreal and in July they brought the boats towards Gibraltar.
