Clothes washers introduced on board of US Navy ships according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1915-1916 no. 3

An item reported that the clothes washer for the first time introduced on board of the USS Texas was such a success that decided was that all next ships would be fitted out with one. Using such a machine against the traditional washing in boilers was less water consumption and less pollution of the accommodations and in this manner an improvement of the hygienic conditions for the health of the crew.
