German target ship SMS Oldenburg stranded according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1913-1914 no. 4


An item reported that the German target ship Oldenburg during heavy weather again lost her anchors and was stranded.(1)

1. Former armoured corvette. Laid down at the shipyard A.G.Vulcan, Stettin with yard number 132 in 1883, launched on 20 December 1884, commissioned on 8 April 1886, stricken on 13 January 1912, target since then, sold to the ship breaking Hattinger Company on 5 May 1919 and the same year dismantled to be broken up at Wilhelmshaven.
