French gunboat Surprise destroyed German auxiliary cruisers Rhios and Italo according to the Dutch newspaper De West dated 6 October 1914

An item dated Bordeaux, France 3rd reported that a French gunboat destroyed the German auxiliary cruisers Rhios and Italo. The edition of 29th September referred to an item dated Bordeaux 27th reporting that it was the French gunboat Surprise which also disembarked troops in Cameroon.
