An item referred to a statement of the American Secretary of Navy Knox (1) stating that 20 fast motor torpedo boats were ready for delivery to the United Kingdom as part of the support program and probably already underway. Despite their speed of more as 60 miles were the torpedo boats to be shipped over sea instead of going under own power. More Mosquito boats were being built, mostly of the 70 feet design and with a minimum speed of 70 miles. Further more said Knox that the navy was negotiating with Canada to built in Canada new warships, probably of the new British corvette design to be used for escorting convoys.(2)
