New French battleships to be armed with 34,3cm guns according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1911-1912 no. 8

An item reported that the 2 or 3 new to be built French battleships (1)were to be armed with 10-34,3cm guns, 22-14cm guns and 4 submerged torpedo tubes. The gun arrangement of the main guns would be similar to that of the British Orion-class(2), while the 14cm guns were united in triple batteries. The displacement would be 23.500 tons.

1. The Bretagne-class consisting of the Bretagne, Provence and Lorraine, preceded by the Courbet-class and succeeded by the Normandie- and Dunkerque-classes. With a displacement of 23.936 (normal)-26.000 (full load) tons and as main armament 10-34cm/45 Modèle 1912 guns.
2. The Orion was armed with 5x2-34,3cm/13.5” gun turrets positioned on the centre-line of the hull, divided in 2 pairs (1 fore ship, 1 aft ship, 1 solo). In each pair was the aft gun turret higher positioned and firing over the fore gun turret.
