Sister ship Cahrlemagne
An item reported that on 27 December [1916] the French 11.260 tons battleship Gaulois was torpedoed in the Mediterranean and that she sunk within 30 minutes. Four sailors were killed.(1)

1. Belonged to the Charlemagne-class with as sister ships the Charlemagne and the St. Louis. This class was preceded by the Jauréguiberry-class and succeeded by the République-class. Building ordered 22 January 1895, laid down at the Arsenal de Brest, France on 6 January 1896, launched on 6 October 1896, commissioned on 23 October 1899 and sunk by the German submarine UB-47 on 27 December 1916.
