An item referred to the L’Esercito italioano reporting that the Russian Amu-Darya river flotilla was used for transporting troops and stores towards Turkestan similar with the Transcaspian railway and further more survey tasks. Private owned ships were added to the flotilla.(1)

1. Flotilla founded on 13 November 1887 operating from Chardjui under the governor general of Turkestan. In April 1923 under direct Russian control then controlled by the Bukharan and Khorezmi Republics since September 1921.
