Tiding of a battle between French and Italian cruisers fake according to the Dutch newspaper Algemeen Handelsblad dated 12 January 1917

An item referred to a tiding of Havas which denied the fight by mistake between a French and an Italian cruiser in the night of 22 December [1916] as the Germans claimed on the 9th.
