Trials executed by American battleship USS Florida (BB-30) according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1912-1913 no. 4


An item referred to the German magazine Schiffbau supplying details published by the American press over the trials executed by the battleship USS Florida (1) which were unofficial while admiral Aaron Ward (2) refused to confirm the results. Wind and other weather conditions very worse, only coal fired, average over 5 runs a speed of 21,974 miles. On the 4 hours trial of 26 March was the largest average speed during one hour 20,75 miles. Further was the 24 hours trials with a speed of 19 miles and 12 miles executed.

Fleming, commissioned on 15 September 1911, decommissioned in June 1924, modernized at the Boston Navy Yard (including adding torpedo bulges, replacing lattice masts by pole mast, two funnels trunked into one stack) and adding a catapult) ) between 1 April 1925-1 November 1926, decommissioned on 16 February 1931, but sold to be broken up at Philadelphia and stricken on 6 April 1931.
