US Navy increasing numbers of sailors and marines according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1916-1917 no. 3

An item reported that the number of officers working at the staff of the US Navy department was proposed to be increased with 15%. A similar decrease for the other officers in the future was also planned. The General Board suggested to increase the personnel strength of the navy with 14.000 men and that of the marines with another 3.400 marines. At that moment were the numbers respectively 53.000 sailors and 10.000 marines.
