US Navy still keeping large battle fleet in actual service according to the Dutch newspaper De Sumatra Post dated 12 July 1923

An item reported that the US cabinet decided that the fleet strength as allowed under the Washington Van Treaty was to be held in service. The naval program proposed to keep 18 battleships, 14 cruisers and 48 submarines combat prepared and at sea in service during 1923.
