US Navy used 45,6 and 53,3cm Whitehead torpedoes according to the Dutch magazine Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1913-1914 no. 2

An item reported that during the discussions dealing with the naval budget the American admiral Twinning (1) supplied more details about the used torpedoes. Except for the 45,6cm Whitehead torpedoes with a length of 5,2 metres were also 53,3cm torpedo does with a usual length of 6,5 metres used. With a speed of 27 miles was the range of the 53,3cm torpedoes 9,1 kilometres of the smaller 45,6cm torpedoes 3,6-4,6 kilometres with a speed of 35 miles. The Bliss-Leavitt torpedo was driven by a torpedo but had as benefit above the Whitehead torpedo that at the end of the range a smaller decrease in speed.
