An item reported that according to the naval correspondent of the Times the British battle fleet increased since August 1914 with 21 ships including 2 of the Iron Duke-class (1) and 10 of the Queen Elizabeth-class (2). Two battleships were originally destined for Turkey, two others for Chile while the 5 remaining were now as the very secret so-called hush-ships. Built within 12 months and according to the rumours with a length of 800 feet, a displacement of 30.000 tons each and a maximum speed of 30-35 knots. It was a combination of a high maximum speed, heavy armament and a small draught ideal for service in the shallow waters of the Baltic and the North Seas.

1. Iron Duke-class consisted of the Iron Duke, Marlborough, Benbow and Emperor of India. Succeeded by the Queen Elizabeth-class.
2. Queen Elizabeth-class, consisting of the Queen Elizabeth, Malaya, Warspite, Valiant, Barham, Malaya and the in 1914 cancelled Agincourt. Succeeded by the Revenge-class.
3. HMS Agincourt (ex-Brazilian Rio de Janeiro and Turkish Sultan Osman-I Evvel) and Erin (ex-Resadiye).
4. The Almirante Latorre became the HMS Canada and the Almirante Cochrane after conversion the HSM Eagle.
5. The Courageous-class of battle cruisers or large light cruisers consisting of the Courageous, Glorious and Furious, all completed as aircraft carrier. The other two probably the Renown-class battle cruisers consisting of the Renown and Repulse.
