South Dakota-class battleships

An item reported that the US cabinet signed a contract with the Fore River Shipbuilding Corporation for building a gigantic 43.000 tons battleship to be named Massachusetts.(1)

1. Of the South Dakota-class, laid down on 4 April 1921, building suspended on 8 February 1922, building cancelled on 17 August 1923, at that moment was she for 11% completed, sold to Steel Scrap Co., Philadelphia, USA on 8 November 1923 to be broken up and stricken on 10 November 1923.
