Former German minister of navy Von Tirpitz fled to Switzerland according to the Dutch newspaper Het Oosten dated 22 November 1918

An item referred to a tiding received from Copenhagen, Denmark reporting that admiral Von Tirpitz (1), former minister of the German navy and mainly responsible for the infamous submarine warfare fled towards Switzerland when the revolt broke out. He choose for submarine warfare when it became clear that the German navy was no real match for the Royal British Navy.

1. Alfred Peter Friedrich von Tirpitz (19 March 1849 Küstrin, Prussia nowadays Kosrtrzyn, Poland-6 March 1930 Ebenhausen, Germany), Secretary of State for the German Imperial Navy 1897-15 March 1916 and grand admiral. He was responsible in making Germany a naval major power.
