Japan wanted to discuss with USA for abolishing battleships according to the Dutch newspaper Bataviaasch nieuwsblad dated 16 September 1931

An item dated Tokyo, Japan 15th referred to the Japanese magazine Nichi Nichi which reported that according received from Washington, USA the Japanese cabinet asked the American cabinet for a meeting about abolishing battleships. Despite the fact that battleships were outdated consumed these ships the major part of available budgets. The Japanese cabinet seemed yet not to have an official answer on their request.
