United States House of Representatives disapproved an amendment needed to improve the armament of 13 battleships according to the Dutch newspaper Het Vaderland dated 30 May 1924

An item dated Washington, USA 29th reported that the United States House of Representatives disapproved an amendment of the navy budget of 6,5 million US dollars needed to improve the armament of 13 battleships. A budget of 18,5 million US dollars needed to convert 6 battleships from coal into oil fuelling and improving defence means against submarines and aircraft was approved.
