Austrian torpedo gunboat or torpedo ship SMS Trabant 1889-1920
Designs available in August 1888. Austrian emperor Franz Joseph I approved her name on 28 September 1889, the Imperial and Royal Maritime Commission while examining the designs discovered she was 16 ton too heavy if realized and disapproved the concept on 24 November 1888, new designs drawn in 18889, laid down at STT, Tieste on 29 July 1889, launched on 21 May 1890, commissioned on 23 November 1891, converted into minesweeper in 195, decommissioned in 1918 and handed over to Italy in 1920 with the condition to break her up within 6 years.
Building costs 903.150 crones. Armament consisted of 2-6,6cm L/45 guns, 8-4,7cm L/44 guns and 2-45cm torpedo tubes. Displacement 540-610 (full laod) tons and as dimensions 67,2-68,82 x 8,2 x 2,5-2,80 (full load) metres. Two 3 cylinder triple expansion steam engines and 4 locomotive boilers supplying totally 3.500 hp allowing with the screws a speed of 20,4 knots. Coal bunker capacity 136 ton. Her crew numbered 84 men. The machinery was protected by 1,8cm thick armour.
