British government bought Rosebery island for expanding naval base according to the Dutch newspaper De Sumatra post dated 22 April 1909

An item reported that the Rosebery island in the Scottish county Linlithgow was sold to the government. The island was needed for the necessary expansion of the naval base in the Firth of Forth.
