An item dealing with the Greek rebellion leaded by Venizelos reported that the destroyers Niki and Leon and a submarine were damaged by gunfire. An other item mentioned 2 destroyers of the rebels attacked by aircraft off the island Kythera. An item reported that the armoured cruiser Georges Averof (1) lying in the Soeday Bay, waters of Crete discovered and bombarded by aircraft. One bomb hit her and the large dust cloud suggested that she was heavily damaged. An item reported that the rebels left 7 damaged warships behind at Salamis, Greece and which were now urgently fitted out by the government. One item suggested that except for the Averoff a destroyer and a torpedo boat were heavily damaged with a destroyer towing a sinking submarine towards Kenya.(1)
