American bark Furness Abbey informed Dutch authorities of stranded ship Amigo according to the Dutch newspaper Javabode dated 6 May 1889

An item referred to a statement of captain Quin of the American bark Furness Abbey that on 10 April de captain of the steamship Amigo came on board with the request to inform the authorities that his ship stranded on the sandbank of the Goenoeng Api [volcano island part of the Dutch East Banda Islands in the Banda Sea] near Mindoro [Philippines].(1)
