Heavy explosion of board of British battleship HMS Bellerophon according to the Dutch newspaper Rotterdamsch nieuwsblad dated 9 June 1914

Bellerophon-class

An item referred to tidings received from Cromarty reporting that on board of the British battleship Bellerophon lying there an explosion wounded 4 stokers severely. The ships seemed not to be damaged.(1)

1. Laid down at the Portsmouth Dockyard on 6 December 1906, launched on 27 July 1907, commissioned on 27 February 1909, reserve in 1919 and sold to be broken up on 8 November 1921 which was executed in 1923. Building costs 1.763.491 pond sterling. Part of the Bellerophon-class dreadnoughts consisting of the Bellerophon, Superb and Temeraire preceded by the Dreadnought and succeeded by the St. Vincent-class.
