An item
referred to the maritime editor of the newspaper Daily Express who reported
that a second group of German submarines was underway towards the Atlantic
Ocean to replace the first group which started with attacking merchant
shipping. He presumed that the first group left Kiel and Wilhelmshaven, Germany
between 20-28 August. German radio signals suggested that some submarines
already begin August went to the Irish west coast to watch the British reserve
fleet and held special manoeuvres.
