Strength of the Argentinean navy according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1886-1887 no. 4

An item referred to the Ejercito Argentino-Revista Marittima dated April 1886 reporting that the Argentinean navy consisted of 3 ironclads, 6 gunboats, 7 torpedo boats, 2 transports, 3 aviso’s, 6 different steamships and 12 sailing vessels. Their crews numbered totally 1.366 men. The officers corps consisted of 1 rear admiral, 2 captains which commanded divisions, 3 captains, 9 captain lieutenants, 6 capitaines de corvette, 20 lieutenants 1st class, 32 lieutenants 2nd class and 45 midshipmen 1st class. Furthermore there were 63 midshipmen, 23 aspirant midshipmen, 20 officers of administration, 46 engineers, 23 officers of health, 2 clerics and 20 pilots.
