The strength of the German navy according to the Dutch newspaper Bataviaasch nieuwsblad dated 15 June 1911

An item reported that the German navy had in actual service the ocean going fleet consisting of 17 battleships, 4 armoured cruisers, 6 small cruisers and 2 torpedo boat flotillas with totally 22 boats. The battle fleet consisted of 10 battleships, 3 armoured cruisers and small cruisers. The half of this fleet was in service with a core crew, after mobilisation of reservists was the whole fleet to be commissioned. In East Asia 2 armoured cruisers, 3 cruisers, 4 gunboats, 2 torpedo boats, in West Africa 2 gunboats, in East Africa 2 cruisers, in East and West America 1 cruiser and in Australia 2 cruisers.
