British battleship HMS Venerable returned safely to England according to the Dutch newspaper Nieuwe Tilburgsche Courant dated 3 November 1914

An item reported that the large British battleship Venerable returned to England. The German newspaper Berliner Tageblatt however reported that she was disabled by a fight off the Belgian coast or by a submarine attack.(1)

1. Part of the London-class a sub-class of the Formidable-class battleships, laid down at the Chatham Dockyard on 2 January 1899, launched on 2 November 1899, commissioned on 12 November 1902, decommissioned end of December 1918 and sold to be broken up on 4 June 1920.
