An item reported that the American torpedo work ship USS Black Hawk and 5 destroyers of the 38th Division visited the Dutch East Indies harbours Tandjong-Priok between 21-27 October 1930 and Surabaya between 29 October-1 November 1930.(1)

Launched at William Cramp and Sons, Ship and Engine Building Company, Philadelphia, USA as the merchant steamship Santa Catalina in 1913, purchased by the US Navy on 3 December 1917, commissioned on 15 May 1918, reclassified as AD-9 in November 1920,decommissioned on 15 August 1946 and handed over to the Maritime Commission on 4 September 1947.
