An item reported that the French admiral Stotz, commanding officer of the French squadron in the Far East planned to visit in April Batavia, Dutch East Indies. He would come with the French battle cruiser of nearly 14.000 tons named Jules Michelet and lying for anchor between 13-22 April at Tandjong Priok, Dutch East Indies. Her crew numbered 742 men (including 22 officers) and the armament consisted of 2 planes, 4-19cm guns, 12-16cm guns, 10-3pd guns, 2 machineguns and 2 torpedo tubes. The armour belt had a thickness of 16cm. With the 28 boilers and 3 screws was the maximum speed 22 miles.(1)
