Italian submarine Ettore Fiermosca launched according to the Dutch magazine dated Marineblad 1929 no. 7

French submarine cruiser Surcouf

An item referred to the magazine Schiffbau reporting that at Tarente, Italy recently the Italian submarine Fieramosca was launched. Displacement 1.800 tons and an armament of 6-53,3cm guns for which 14 torpedoes were taken with her, 24 mines and -12cm quick firing guns. With a horsepower of 5.300 hp was the surfaced speed 19 knots.(1)

1. The Ettore Fiermosca designed by the firm Bernardis as the Italian version of the French submarine cruiser Surcouf, but never fitted out with the planned aircraft for which the hangar already was removed in 1931. Laid down by Cantieri navali Tosi di Taranto, Italy in 1925, launched on 15 April 1929, commissioned in 1930, decommissioned in April 1941 and afterwards broken up. Was a failure
