Latvia ordered building in France of submarines and minesweepers according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1925 No. 4

An item referred to the magazine Schiffbau dated 1925 No. 1 reporting that the Latvian department for defence ordered French shipyards to built 2 submarines (1) and 2 minesweepers.(2)

1, The Ronin-class consisting of the A.C. de la Loire, Nantes, France and the Spidola, laid down by A.C. Augustin Normand, Le Havre, France, both laid down in 1925, commissioned in 1927 and scuttled on 24 June 1941.
2. The Viesturs-class consisting of the Viesturs, laid down by A.C. de la Loire, Nantes, France in 1926 and the Imanata, laid down by A.C. Augustin Normand, Le Havre, France in 1926 and both in Russian hands on 13 August 1940.
