Sailing ship John Davis arrived at St. Helena according to the Dutch newspaper De Preangerbide dated 21 June 1917

An item referred to tidings received from Surabaya, Dutch East Indies reporting that the sailing ship John Davis arrived at St. Helena.

According to the caption was she leaving the dry dock at Surabaya, Dutch East Indies destined for Rotterdam, Netherlands with a cargo of 7.000 bales tobacco and 300 tons of stones as ballast. Gross register tonnage more as 3.260 cubic metres and as dimensions 63,39 (maximum) x 21,63 (maximum) metres. She was had been laid up for 14 years and now fitted out.
