American battleship USS Connecticut saved passengers of the stranded Norwegian Atlanta steamship according to the Dutch newspaper Het nieuws van den dag voor Nederlandsch-Indië dated 22 May 1914


An item dated Galveston, USA 20th reported that the American battleship Connecticut received a wireless SOS telegram. After steaming to the location were 100 passengers of the Norwegian steamship Atlanta [some newspaper reporting Atlanta, others Atlantis] stranded on a distance of 100 miles from Tampico, Mexico rescued. Mostly were it foreigners returning from Galveston to the oilfields.(1)
