British cruisers HMS Fox and Proserpina sent to Somaliland according to the Dutch newspaper Het nieuws van den dag voor Nederlandsch-Indië dated 30 October 1905

An item dated Suez, Egypt 28th reported that the British cruisers Fox (1) and Proserpina (2) which escorted the battleship Renown (3) were ordered to immediately leave Suez, Egypt destined for Somaliland due to the uprising there.(4)

Notes
1. Of the Astraea-class 2nd class protected cruisers, laid down at the Portsmouth Dockyard, England on 11 January 1892, launched on 15 June 1893, completed on 14 April 1896, decommissioned in March 1919 and sold to be broken up in July 1920.
2. The Proserpine of the Pelorus-class 3rd class protected cruiser, laid down by Sheerness Dockyard, England in March 1896, launched on 5 December 1896 and sold to be broken up on 30 November 1919.
3. Battleship 2nd class, preceded by the Centurion-class and succeeded by the Majestic-class, laid down by Pembroke Dockyard on 1 February 1893, launched on 8 May 1895, completed in January 1897, decommissioned and stricken on 31 January 1913 and sold to be broken up on 1 April 1914.
4. British Somaliland Protectorate nowadays Somalia. The British government was for decades trying to deal with the resistance by the so-called Dervish State resulting in four British expeditions. The British forces were even driven back to the coastal region until the Dervishes were beaten in 1920.
