An item reported that the Chinese transport Freedom of China visited the Dutch East Indies harbours Batavia between 14-17 July 1937 and Pontianak between 19-21 July 1937.

1. A former merchant ship converted into a training ship used for training 48 cadets. During her visit commanded by lieutenant Chen Li Feng Crew numbered 253 men. Armament consisted of some guns and machineguns.
