An item reported that the Italian Armando Diaz visited the Dutch East Indies harbour Makassar between 9-14 December 1934.(1)

Of the Condottieri-class Cadorna subclass consisting of the Armandi Diaz and Luigi Cadorna, building ordered in 29 October 1929, laid down by Odero Terni Orlando, La Spezia, Italy on 28 July 1903, launched on 10 July 1932, commissioned on 29 April 1933 and sunk but the British submarine Upright off the Tunisian island Kerkennah on 25 February 1941.
