Russian battleship Tsesarevich 1898-1917 and Grazdanin 1917-1924 (1925)

Preceded by the Retvizan, succeeded by the Borodino-class. Building ordered in 20 July 1898, laid down at Compagnie des Forges et Chantiers de la Méditerranée à la Seyne, France on 8 July 1899, launched on 23 February 1901, commissioned on 31 August 1903, heavily damaged in a fight with the Japanese fleet and unable to reach Vladivostok went she to the German controlled Chinese harbour Tsingtao where she was interned and disarmed during the rest of the Russo-Japan war, modernized in 1906 including removing 7,5cm guns in the superstructure, removing fighting top and cutting down the superstructure, renamed Grazhdanin on 13 April 1917, acquired by the Soviet Union in November 1917, decommissioned in May 1918, broken up in begin 1924 and stricken on 21 November 1925. Name also written as Czarewitz.

Displacement 13.105 tons and as dimensions 118,5 x 23,2 x 7,92 metres or 388.9 x 76.1 x 26.0 feet. The machinery consisted of 2 vertical triple expansion steam engines and 20 Belleville boilers supplying via 2 shafts 16.300ihp allowing a speed of 18 knots. The range was with a speed of 10 knots and a coal bunker capacity 810 (normal)-1.370 (maximum) tons 5.500 nautical miles. The Krupp armour consisted of a 16cm/6.3”-25cm/9.8” thick waterline belt, a 4cm/1,6”-5cm/2.0” thick deck with the main gun turrets, barbettes and conning tower protected by respectively 25cm/9.8”, 25cm/9.8” and 25,4cm/10.0”. The armament consisted of 2x2-30,5cm/12” guns, 6x2-15,2cm/6” guns, 20x1-7,5cm/3” guns, 20x1-4,7cm/1.9” Hotchkiss guns, 8x1-3,7cm/1.5” guns and 4-38,1cm torpedo tubes (1xbow surfaced, 1xstern surfaced, and each broadside 1 submerged).
