Negotiations for building a battleship in the USA for account of the Soviet Union failed according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1938 no. 5

An item referred to the magazine Schiffbau dated 15 March 1938 reported that the efforts of the Soviet Union to let a battleship be built in the USA seemed to have failed/ The commission which for that purpose visited the USA in the summer of 1937 returned to the Soviet Union. Why the negotiations failed was not known. The Soviet Union seemed even to have intended to buy the not fully operational New York Shipbuilding Company at Camden. The machinery and guns were well  bought in the USA.
