An item referred to the magazine Le Yacht dated 11 May 1912 reporting that at the plant at Wittkrowitz [Witkowice, Poland?] a new kind of armour plates produced for the new to be built Austrian battleships.(1) It were so-called electric armour plates which in an electric oven during a very preciously controlled temperature were reheated. The result was an armour plate stronger than the latest Krupp plates but cheaper. This plant produced the major part of the armour needed by the Austrian navy.
