Conte di Cavour-class

An item reported that in 1937 the Italian fleet was reinforced possible for an again increased budget with 250 million lore compared with 1936 to 1.857.891.000 lire. Launched were 2 battleships(1), 5 destroyers, 7 torpedo boats and 11 submarines. Commissioned were the modernized battleships Cavour and Cesare (2), the Condottieri-class cruisers Garibaldi and Savoia with a main armament of 10-5.9”/15cm guns instead of 8-15cm/5.9” guns and furthermore a number of destroyers, torpedo boats and submarines.

Notes
1. This must be the Littorio-class consisting of the Littorio, Vittorio Veneto, Roma and Impero, although they had actually a displacement of 45.236 tons. The First two were laid down in 1934, the last two in 1930 although the the Impero never was completed.
2. The Conte di Cavour-class consisting of the Conte di Cavour, Giulio Cesare en Leonardo da Vinco, the last sunk in 1916, all three laid down in 1910.
