Contract signed with British shipyard for building Turkish dreadnought according to the Dutch newspaper Het nieuws van den dag voor Nederlands-Indië dated 16 June 1911


An item dated Constantinople, Turkey 15th reported that the Turkish minister of navy and a representative of the British firm Mitchell-Armstrong signed a contract for building a 21.000 tons dreadnought for Turkey.(1)

1. The Reshad V of which the building by Vickers was ordered on 8 June 1911? Laid down with yard number 425 on 1 August 1911, launched on 3 September 1913, renamed Resadiye, seized by the British cabinet on 22 August 1914 and commissioned as the HMS Erin. Displacement 23.150 (normal)-25.660 (deep load) tons.
