She was launched as a traditional topsail schooner by the Germania shipyard, Kiel, Germany on 4 September 1920. She was fitted out with a wind-powered rotor drive invented by engineer Anton Flettner (1) and was presented on 7 November 1924 as a rotor ship. He built the ship supported by Albert Bet, Jakob Ackeret and Ludwig Brandtl. Later renamed Baden-Baden went she to the USA arriving at New York, USA on 9 May 1926 and finally lost in the Caribbean in 1931. At that moment were the rotors already removed and was she a screw steamship.
