An item referred to the Rivista Marittima dated 31 May which published a note of the well known Italian naval engineer Cuniberti (1) describing the general specifications for a torpedo ship. With a displacement of 11.000 ton and a maximum speed of 25 miles was the armament to consist of 18-53cm/20.9” torpedo launchers (6 fore, 6 middle and 6 aft) and 16-15,2cm/6” guns (8 in an armoured turret fore and 8 aft). Both turret were to be protected by an armour with a maximum thickness of 40cm/15.7” and which armour was to be thickest at the base of the turrets. The surface part was to be as smallest as possible giving her the appearance of a submarine. The funnels, air ducts and so on were to pass through the turrets.
