German battleship SMS Kaiser Wilhelm II stranded in the Flensburg Firth according to the Dutch newspaper De Sumatra Post dated 8 December 1911


An item dated Kiel, Germany 7th reported that the German battleship Wilhelm II in the fog was stranded in the Flensburg Firth [border Germany-Denmark].(1)

1. Of the Kaiser Friedrich III-class pre dreadnought battleships consisting of the Kaiser Friedrich III, Kaiser Wilhelm II, Kaiser Wilhelm der Grosse, Kaiser Karl der Grosse and Kaiser Barbarossa. Preceded by the Brandenburg-class and succeeded by the Wittelsbach-class. Laid down at the Kaiserliche Werft Wilhelmshaven, Germany under the contract name Ersatz Friedrich der Grosse with yard number 24 on 26 October 1896, launched 14 September 1897, commissioned as flagship on 13 February 1900, decommissioned and laid up in reserve in 1908, decommissioned in 1910-1912, coastal defence ship in 1914, command ship for the High Seas Fleet at Wilhelmshaven after February 1915, stricken on 17 March 1921 and sold to be broken up which was executed in 1922
