Polish merchant shipping needed to be increased for larger market segment in foreign trade shipping according to the Dutch magazine Schip en Werf dated 29 October 1937

An item referred to the Polish issue if the merchant fleet was to be increased. In begin 1937 she numbered 96 ships with a total tonnage of 97.000 tons. In the first half of 1937 was totally 772.000 tons cargo shipped, an increase of 161.000 tons compared with the first six months the year before. However Polish ships transported just 8% of the stores transported in the foreign trade of Poland. To grow to 15-20% was the intention to increase the Polish tonnage with about 30.000 gross register tons.
