The Bulgarian and Rumanian navies according to an American CIA report dated 21 August 1951

An item reported that the naval base at Varna, Bulgaria was commanded by lieutenant colonel Kutevski and included a minesweeper flotilla commanded by a certain captain Jesev and a defensive flotilla commanded by a certain colonel Papasov. The naval base of Burgas, Bulgaria was commanded by an officer named Zulatarov. The Russian navy captain Romanyok was supreme commander of the Bulgarian and Rumanian navies.

Begin 1951 handed the Soviet Union 12 at Ochakov built torpedo boats  over to Bulgaria. The machinery consisted of 3-1.250hp engines, a crew numbering 11 men and an armament of 2 torpedo launchers. Furthermore possessed the Bulgarian navy a 18 wood built 35 ton vessels with a speed of around 30 knots and an armament of 1-3,7cm/1.5” gun, 2 heavy machineguns and 8 mine launchers and 17 minesweepers each of around 20 ton and a crew numbering 8-10 men. The fleet included also of the 850 ton destroyer Georgi Dimitrov (1), 2-250 ton torpedo boats and 3 submarines.

1. Laid down at the 20061 Kommunar Yard, Nikolayev, Russia as a Project 30K destroyer on 20 November 1939, launched on 25 December 1940, completed in 1949-1950, training ship since September 1960 and stricken in 1963.
