Dutch proposed converting existing tanker into nuclear propelled research ship according to the Dutch newspaper Trouw dated 25 November 1958

Type A. Deadweight 16.616 tons and as dimensions 523.6"x 68.0 x 30.3 x 30.2 feet

Type B. Deadweight 18.101 tons and as dimensions 557.0 x 69.3 x 39.0 x 29.9 feet

An item reported that the Dutch Stichting kernvoortstuwing Koopvaardijschepen decided to built a 16.000 tons tanker with a standard machinery of turbo-generators and a kern reactor supplying the (electric) power for the propulsion. The intention was to convert an already existing tanker into a nuclear propelled ship to be used as research or laboratory ship. The plan was to be discussed with the European organisation Euratom (European Atomic Energy Community).(1)
