Based on a design published in Popular Mechanics February 1943
After the First World War were discussions going on if battleships were not outdated and replaced by bombers as the ultimate weapon. One of the effects for designing new battleships was streamlining of the decks and the superstructure including gun turrets to fend off bomb dropped by aircraft and adding more antiaircraft guns to the armament. Another development was the battleship-carrier concept using the best of both types. The upper deck of the ship was to be become a flight deck of which the central part was permanent probably with catapults at the forward end for launching the aircraft and with extensible sections fore and aft rolling on steel bridgework pivot against the ends of the permanent section when unused. A heavy armoured deck at the hangar level protected the vital parts against bomb dropped by aircraft. In the hangar could around 15 fighters and 2/3 reconnaissance aircraft be stored transported with 2 elevators to the flight deck. The hull was to be fitted out with a treble bottom, anti torpedo belts and divided in numerous compartments by watertight bulkheads. The displacement was calculated to be at least 45.000 tons and as dimensions 890 (over all) x 108 (hull) feet. Speed 30 knots. Except for several triple 5.25”/4cm dual purpose gun mountings consisted the main armament of 3x3-40,6cm/16” guns (2 fore, 1 aft).
