Drowned on the age of 23 when off Westkapelle, Netherlands the Dutch East Indiaman Woestduin (1) returning from the Dutch East Indies wrecked on 25 July 1779. He was first buried at Westkapelle and later buried at Vlissingen.

1. Of the Dutch East India Company Amsterdam, a so-called spiegelretourschip built in 1767. Cargo capacity 575 last/1.150 tons and a length of 150 feet. Her crew numbered 239-369 persons.
