Shipbuilding and maintenance activities at Galatz, Romania according to a CIA report dated 20 August 1947

An item reported that three of four hulls for maximum 600 tons vessels were sighted lying along the south west pier of the new dock at Galatz, Romania. Possible it were uncompleted KT ships although apparently all labour stopped and none machinery was seen nearby. A large cargo ship was under repair which seemed to be salvaged and which was damaged during an aircraft attack as the marks could be seen clearly. At the naval arsenal were an old destroyer [the Marasti?], several hulls of gunboats and old torpedo boats and the submarine Delfinul lying. All in worse condition although nothing was at maintenance at the moment.
